This beautiful table runner was woven with a cotton warp and a linen/wool weft, with magenta red plaid stripes in wool.

Ultramarine paint, made from ground lapis lazuli stone, was once so costly that Michelangelo couldn’t afford it. Werner’s Nomenclature of Colors (1821) says it can be found on the upper side of of the wings of of the small blue Heath Butterfly, or on the borage flower.

It evokes picnics, days at the lake, and the cool breeze of a sunny day.

32” long (including fringe) and 10” wide. Plaid squares are about 1 1/2 “ each.

Handwash is best.
